Graduate Business Studies (BBS) - Tribhuvan University


 


The objective of Tribhuan  University “TU” BBS program at FOM is to develop students as competent managers for any field of organized activity. The program is based on the principlse that Greaduats spend a signification portion of their lives in a constantly changed environment. Therefore, students should have the opportunity to acquire a broader knowledge of skills based on concepts and realities that are based on the operation and management of the institution. More than 680 colleges in Nepal offer BBS programs.

 

After graduation, students should be equipped to work as managers in business, industry and government. Graduates should also have various career opportunities in different fields of business including entrepreneurship and create much needed employment for others.

The BBS program specially attempts to::

1.)    Take students with the necessary conceptual knowledge of business and administration to develop general management perspectives in them.

2.)    Develop the necessary attitude, ability and practical skills in students, which lays the foundation for the development of competent and responsible business managers.

3.)    Encourage students to make entrepreneurship effective agents of change in Nepali society.

4.)    Develop the necessary foundation for higher studies in management and then pursue a career in teaching, research and consulting.

Salient Features

·        Minimum general requirements

The minimum general requirements for the BS Year BBS program are as follows:

 

1. The academic year will include at least 1,150 teaching days, excluding the days taken for admission and annual examinations.

 

2. The total teaching hours in an academic year will be 15,115 (1,150 days x: 10:10 days a day). For areas required for courses and practical tasks, additional hours of study will be required.

 

There. Each teaching day will have at least five periods (ie class hours). Campuses in morning or evening shifts will also be required to meet this minimum class requirement.

Attendance, evaluation and gradings system

 

The final evaluation of the students is done through the annual examination conducted by the Office of Control of Examinations, Tribhuvan University. However, to qualify for the annual exam, students must meet the following requirements:

 

(a) At least 0 percent of the students should actually attend the classes that are actually held.

 

(B) Any student shall be allowed to enter the final examination of the second year without taking part in the final examination of the first year.

 

The grading system in the annual examination is as follows:

 

  1. Third Division 35 Percent
  2. Second Division 45 Percent
  3. First Division 60 Percent
  4. Distinction 75 Percent

 

Methods of instruction

 

Campuses offering BBS programs should use teaching methods that help students prepare for the realities of Nepali business, industry and government in which he / she has to.

 

Work

 

The combination of lectures, group discussions, problem solving exercises, guest lectures, practical work, and fieldwork will be used as a learning approach. Campuses are also encouraged to use

 

Case method instructions when needed and where possible.

The Faculty of Management recognizes the need for both breadth and depth in the total academic pattern. Therefore, the curriculum for BBS degree comprises four separate and distinct course components:

  1. A strong foundation in allied areas of business such as language, economic analysis, legal environment, quantitative methods and research methods to prepare graduates to understand, analyze and comprehend the management concepts, theories and practices.
